The social network X (formerly Twitter) recorded a massive interruption in its service worldwide during the morning of this Monday, February 16. Thousands of users reported critical difficulties accessing the platform, making the incident a global trend in a matter of minutes.
WHAT HAPPENED TO X TODAY? MAIN FAILURES REPORTED
According to the Downdetector monitoring platform, reports began to escalate shortly after 5:00 a.m. In just half an hour, more than 40,000 complaints from various countries were already recorded.
The problems detected were distributed as follows:
- 60% Feed errors: Posts did not load or persistent error messages appeared.
- 30% Mobile App Failures: Users reported extreme slowness and problems updating content.
- 10% Login: Difficulty accessing accounts on both desktop and mobile devices.
SCOPE OF THE DISRUPTION: FROM LATIN AMERICA TO EUROPE
The fall was not regional, but affected main nodes in Latin America, the United States and Europe. Affected users reported recurring incidents such as:
- Connection errors with the server.
- Inability to update the timeline.
- Failures when trying to send posts (tweets).
- Problems viewing specific notifications or profiles.
Relevant fact: This is the second large-scale failure so far this year, occurring exactly one month after the global incident on January 16.
SERVICE RESTORATION
After several hours of uncertainty and without an immediate official statement from the company led by Elon Musk, the service began to show signs of recovery.
Around 8:30 a.m., core X functions returned to normal for most users. Although the platform is now operational, the event generated a wave of memes and criticism on other social networks, questioning the technical stability of the application after its recent updates.
