Delcy Rodríguez commits to the US Secretary of Energy to have a “long-term productive partnership”

In the same scenario in which for 27 years the Chavista leaders have criticized and insulted the United States, the current interim president has committed to the United States to maintain a “long-term productive partnership.”

Even more, he said he wanted the partnership between Caracas and Washington “becomes the driving force of the bilateral relationship and that this energy agenda is productive, effective, beneficial for both countries and complementary.”

And all just a month after US troops captured Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Floresand will transfer them to a New York court.

“Let it be diplomatic dialogue, political dialogue, energy dialogue, which we are welcoming, let it be the appropriate and pertinent channels for the United States and Venezuela to maturely assume, from the historical divergence, let us maturely assume how to continue moving forward,” he indicated.

Also present were Venezuelan officials such as the Minister of Economy and Finance, Anabel Pereira Fernándezand the economic vice president, Calixto Ortega.

For Rodríguez, the 26 years of confrontation led first by Hugo Chavez and for Maduro Later, there have been “ups and downs” between the two, but he stressed that they have had an “energy relationship for a century and a half.”

Wright arrived at the Miraflores presidential palace two weeks after a law reform approved by the Venezuelan Parliament that opens the oil sector to foreign investment and after the US Treasury Department relaxed restrictions for companies from the North American country to operate in the Caribbean nation.

When he spoke, Wright said he was the bearer of “a message from President Trump” and his “passionate commitment to transforming the relationship between the United States and Venezuela.”

“This is part of the work of our Government, which has worked seven days a week issuing licenses so that Venezuelan companies and national companies can buy inputs, increase their production, raise funds and increase oil production,” he assured.

In his brief statement, he considered that, “working together”, Venezuela could have a “great increase” in its production of gas, oil and electrical energy.

With that brief statement, without questions and without mentioning the elephant in the room – which has the face of Maduro – an appearance ended that also puts an end to an era, that of Chavismo, of open confrontation with the United States and close alliance with Russia and China.
